Our story
1965
Cooper Gay Holdings begins operations, laying the foundations of an organisation that would become an international benchmark in insurance and reinsurance broking.
1996
Cooper Gay Martínez del Río y Asociados is founded in Mexico City, marking the start of a solid track record in the Latin American reinsurance market.
2011
Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford (CGSC) acquires full control of Cooper Gay Martínez del Río, strengthening its presence and growth in the region.
2013
CGSC expands its international reach through the acquisition of Newman Martin and Buchan, a renowned insurance and reinsurance broking group in the Lloyd’s market.
2016
The Mexican operation reaches USD 69M in brokered premiums, with 670 accounts served and a team of 49 employees. Meanwhile Cooper Gay evolves into Ed. Broking, marking the beginning of a new corporate stage.
2017
Som.us is born as a regional network that today brings together operations in Ecuador, Colombia, Uruguay and Mexico, serving from there Central America, Panama and the Dominican Republic, with a vision focused on closeness, innovation and growth.
2019
Som.us México drives a new stage of modernisation with the migration of its critical applications to AWS, the implementation of RPA solutions and the strengthening of its operations from its new offices in Coyoacán.
2023
Som.us México exceeds USD 228M in brokered premiums, serving 968 accounts with a team of 67 employees.
2025
Driven by the adoption of AI-based solutions and a culture of continuous innovation, Som.us México reaches USD 318M in brokered premiums, quadrupling its business volume in a decade and consolidating an operation that served 982 accounts with a team of 72 employees.
2026
Som.us celebrates 30 years of history in Mexico, consolidating a track record marked by constant evolution, innovation and commitment to its clients and strategic partners.
